Once you have identified the cause of the behavior, then you can start to address it.

Take Time off Work to Train Puppy

If you have just recently adopted a puppy, then you should not be surprised if they are not perfectly behaved. You would not expect a brand-new human child to behave perfectly. One of the best things that a new patent owner can do is take time off of work to train their new pet. This will give you the one on one time that you need to help build the bond with your pet that you want. Plus, you will also get to spend some time teaching them how to behave properly. This is a situation where there is no loser.

Ensure Puppy Gets Plenty Of Stimulation

Sometimes a puppy may start to get hyperactive if they have not had any stimulation. Now you may be out at work, so you are unable to take them out. However, this does not mean that they need to go without stimulation, even if they are alone. Find a toy that they particularly like and let them have it for the day while you are gone. If they like the toy enough, then that should give them enough stimulation to relax them.

Can Someone Watch The Puppy?

If you are a new pet owner, then you should not feel ashamed for wanting to take a break from your pet. Human parents will let a babysitter keep an eye on their baby for a while. They do not feel healthy or ashamed whenever they do such a thing. If they can do this, then you should be able to get some quality time away from your pet as well. Try to see if you have a friend that would be willing to let the new puppy spend the night.

Is Puppy Eating Enough Food and Drinking Enough Water?

Puppies need to drink and eat more often than adult dogs do. If you are not feeding them often enough, they may be very hungry if they start to drive you crazy at the end of the day, double-check to see if they had their dinner or not. It could be as simple as giving them an extra meal to get them to quiet down.

Are You Spending Enough Quality Time With Your Puppy?

Puppies also need to spend quality time with their people. Dogs are not meant to be solitary creatures. As a pack animal, they have a strong desire for social connection. If you are not spending quality time with your pet, they may feel lonely. Try to free up some time to spend one-on-one with your pet to alleviate those feelings.

Consider Where Puppy Sleeps at Night

If your puppy is not acting crazy all of the time, then ask yourself what is different about when they do. If they only start to act this way whenever you put them to bed, then you might try to change their bedtime location. One of the best places is to put them in the room with you.

Try a Relaxation Blanket

If you have tried multiple different solutions and still are unable to identify a cause, they may have anxiety. You can go to a pet store and pick up a weighted relaxation blanket for them. This is a blanket that they wear that will give them a small but constant pressure. This has been shown to help reduce feelings of stress in animals.

You May Have to Wait

Sometimes puppies are more like human children than we would like to admit. Just like a human child sometimes needs to grow out of their tantrums, so will a puppy. Not all puppies perfectly behave, and sometimes there is little that you can do about it. Luckily almost all dogs will start to behave better by the time they are adults.

Rewards for Good Behavior

If you have been trying to train your dog by punishing them, you could have been doing it the wrong way. Instead of punishing your dog when they do something wrong, you could try to reboard them for the right behavior. This could be more effective.
